With the dismissal of the ban of the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD) by the German Federal Constitutional Court, an important opportunity has been missed to take effective action against this inhuman party and to strengthen democracy. The NPD can, at present, spread its brown ideology and provide important logistical support in the right-wing scene with the help of hundred of thousands of euros of taxpayer money.
There will be a change at the head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany at the end of the year. In a letter to the Directorate of the Central Council, its President Dr. Graumann announced that he would not run again as presidential candidate in the re-elections in November 2014.

With a large rally at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin the Central Council of Jews in Germany wants to take a stand against anti-Semitism. With the motto “Stand up! Never again anti-Semitism!” the Central Council of Jews is calling on everybody in the country to oppose the wave of hate against the Jews.
Chancellor Angela Merkel will speak at the rally to be held at 15.00 h. on Sunday 14th September 2014. “It means a lot to the Jewish Community to be able to welcome the Chancellor to an event that is so important for us, and that together we can take a stand against anti-Semitism”, said the President of the Central Council of Jews, Dr Dieter Graumann.
The Secretary-General of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Stephan J. Kramer, has decided to step down from his position after 15 years of work for the Central Council. His departure from the Central Council will take effect on January 31, 2014.
