The President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Dr. Dieter Graumann, condemned as a "cowardly murderous attack on innocents" today's bomb blast in Jerusalem that killed one woman and injured 35 people, some of them seriously. It is the first bombing attack in Jerusalem since 2004. "Our sympathies, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. We also pray for the wounded and hope for their speedy and complete recovery," said Graumann.
"The atrocious attack on a family in Itamar early this month in which three children and their parents were stabbed to death, and more than 80 shells and rockets which have been recently fired on civilians living close to the border with Gaza and which have especially affected Beersheba have already demonstrated that we are witnessing a new spiral of terror in the Middle East," the Central Council's President said. "Now that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks and hailed today's bombing attack in Jerusalem it should be clear to everyone, here in Germany, too, that terrorists can never be partners in a peace process", stressed Graumann.
