Central Council criticises orientation of expellee foundation

Berlin/Frankfurt – The Vice-President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Salomon Korn, has demanded a re-orientation of the Foundation Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation. In the latest issue of the magazine Der Spiegel, he warned he would suspend his membership in the Foundation's board if the subject of expulsion was not discussed "in the context of the Second World War and of Nazi crimes against humanity". He also did not rule out the possibility of the Central Council leaving the Foundation. "We are not going to serve as an alibi. There are clear conditions under which we are prepared to co-operate." Korn also criticised the role of the Federation of Expellees (Bund der Vertriebenen – BdV) in the Foundation and demanded an inquiry into the involvement of certain BdV functionaries with the Nazi regime.
