Amazon stops its cooperation with the NPD

Berlin – The on-line retailer Amazon has expelled the far-right National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD) from its Associates Programme. On Monday, an Amazon spokeswoman told the Berliner Tagesspiegel newspaper that the corresponding links would be removed within the next few days. The decision has been taken after public outrage at the business partnership between Amazon the NPD website “Nationales Netztagebuch” (“National Net Journal”). The on-line retailer has been harshly criticised by the Vice-President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Dieter Graumann, for its “complicity with fascists”. Nevertheless, Amazon continues to sell far-right literature, e. g. books from the NPD publisher “Deutsche Stimme”. (09.06.2009)
