Charlotte Knobloch receives Medal of Europe

Munich – The President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany has been awarded the Bavarian Medal of Europe. Speaking at the award ceremony in Munich , the State Minister for Federal and European Affairs, Emilia Müller (CSU), said Charlotte Knobloch was receiving the Medal for her commitment to "establishing closer links between German-speaking Jewish communities in Europe ". The Bavarian Medal of Europe has been awarded since 1990 by the Office of the Prime Minister of Bavaria for outstanding services to the united Europe . So far, 201 persons have received it. Among this year's awardees are the actress Hannah Herzsprung and the former Czech foreign minister Cyril Svoboda. (06.05.2009)
