Nazi “Heroes Commemoration Day” demonstration in Munich authorised by court

Munich – A demonstration in Munich , organised by far-right groups to mark the "Heroes Commemoration Day", was authorised by the Bavarian Higher Administrative Court after it had been prohibited by the city's authorities and the Administrative Court of Munich. The judgement stated that restrictions imposed by public order regulations were sufficient to prevent the demonstration from assuming the "semblance of a Nazi commemoration". The participants of the demonstration that took place on 14th November and was titled "Fame and Honour to the German Soldier" were not allowed to carry torches and to sing the SS anthem "When all become disloyal". The President of the Central Council of Jews, Charlotte Knobloch, called the judgement "unacceptable". "The neo-Nazis use the demonstration on the Memorial Day to publicly express their ideas glorifying National Socialism." She told the news agency AP that such things should not happen, neither on that nor on any other day. (15.11.2008)
