Central Council calls for "mixture of prevention and repression" in fight against far-right extremism

Berlin – On the occasion of the Day of German Unity, the Secretary General of the Central Council of Jews in Germany , Stephan J. Kramer, called for a mixture of preventive and repressive measures to fight far-right extremism. "It presents a danger to society as a whole and not just to certain minorities," said Kramer in an interview to the news agency Deutscher Depeschendienst. He also stressed that the problem was not confined to eastern Germany . "Far-right extremism will never be completely purged from our society but it can be neutralised by keeping it on a low level," said Kramer. (04.10.2008)
